Grand Opening March 29, 2008
It was truly Grand!
Over 400 people came to find out all about a Habitat
Restore, ate some of our great food, then made a lot of purchases!
We made in one day what we thought it would take a week to do!
And so it continues. More and more people find
out about us and are spreading the word like wildfire through word
of mouth! This is a place to get a great bargain on truly
great products! And, this is a place with friendly people, a
clean, organized atmosphere—and, just added! Otis Spunkmeyer freshly
baked cookies daily!! The kids (and Mom’s) love these at the
reasonable price of 3 for $1.50!
Our stock continues to change on a daily basis as well.
We had a set of kitchen cabinets for an hour—gone. We had
another set for a day and a half—gone. Appliances are gone
quickly also. Every piece of furniture that you see in the
pictures of our Opening Day—gone—and yet we are full of more
bar-gains! We are very pleased with how well we are doing and
certainly hope it continues as the donations are pouring in with new
products daily.
This retail venture was taken on by our affiliate as
another source of funding for our Habitat houses. It was meant
to build more houses, not to fund what we have already committed to
build. We still need all those monetary donations out there
coming in to help us and count on them as we have for over ten
years! We also need all of your help at our two fund raising
events during the year—Carol Harris Staffing Walk/Run/Ride for
Habitat—May 10, 2008 and at the Pittsburgh Mills Mall, our
November-December “Village of Hope” with the chances on those
darling children’s playhouses!
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could double our
production of providing homes for those in need?? Stopping by
this Habitat Restore and making a purchase will certainly put us on
our way to that goal!
There is convenient parking in front
of the building during the week and sometimes on a Saturday as well
but we do try to keep the area directly in front of the double glass
doors available for loading all those wonderful purchases! We
also have a large fenced in lot that comes with our building rental
that is labeled Schreiber Industrial Park. Right now, it doesn’t say
that Restore shoppers can park there—but they can. The sign
was delayed but should be on there soon—feel free to park safely in
that fenced in lot!
Want to know more about Habitat for Humanity Allegheny
Valley? Well then, stop by for any and all information—the latest
newsletters, brochures, volunteer forms, housing applications and
why not talk to John, Sara or Diane if you have questions about
anything concerning Habitat Allegheny Valley!
Want to volunteer but do not want to be on a
construction site? Well then, just stop by and tell someone,
we would love to have your help. There are normally three of us
there but we can get pretty busy and need extra hands always! Come
volunteer at the Restore!
Want to donate something to the Restore? (We will give
you a receipt for tax purposes but, as a 501C3 non-profit, we cannot
value anything you give us, just name it.)
Stop by or call:
John at 412-849-7346,
Sara at 412-443-4566 or
Diane at 412-889-5033
to schedule a pick-up of your items. We will try to do it as
conveniently for you as possible. Most of our collections are
on Saturdays but we do have two volunteers (a father and teenage
son) who can do some evening collections if needed, but if it’s a
big donation, we cannot get it until we have more help.
Please visit, browse and shop at our Habitat Restore,
we know you will find a bargain.
We want to hear all of you say,
“I saved at the Habitat Restore!”
